But food will be one of the most valuable assets during a long-term disaster. When you first start prepping, you might consider some food products to be a no brainer for long-term storage. For example, instant pancake mixes offer an easy way to cook a filling, tasty meal with the only additional ingredient being water. However, there are a few reasons why these mixes are not ideal for long-term food storage and in fact, can actually be dangerous.
