Yes, your leftovers are safe to eat IF they were cooked safely in the first place.đŸ„˜

One of the biggest reasons people don’t allow themselves to save time and money by meal prepping is FEAR that the food won’t be safe in the fridge overnight or for a few days.

Food that’s properly cooked (meaning no undercooked meat) and stored in airtight containers (not Saran Wrap on a plate) in a working fridge will be safe to eat for up to a week depending on the meal.

We generally recommend 4 days. Because after 4 days, even if it’s safe to eat, it’s not super appetizing.

Plus, not all meals “work” as leftovers - meaning some meals just are meant to be eaten fresh while others can get even more delicious when stored in the fridge overnight (like chili, curry etc).

That’s where we come in! All recipes in the WWL Program and on our site (and in our book!) are made to be stored in the fridge for a few days and eaten as meal preps/leftovers.

Need good container recs? Google “workweek lunch containers” for our recs and links for containers at all different price points, sizes and more.

Happy prepping!
