Odiorne Point is located in Rye, New Hampshire and was named after the first settlers in the region, the Odiorne family, who arrived in 1660s. The site is home to the Pannaway Plantation and one of the Sunken Forests of New Hampshire is located within its boundaries. From 1942 to 1947, Odiorne Point was home to Fort Dearborn which was built as one of the main defensive batteries to guard Portsmouth. The fort was protected by a series of 16 inch MARK IMMI and 6 inch M1artillery guns. Currently what is left of Fort Dearborn lays abandoned, in ruin, and overrun by vegetation.
