I explored a 137-year-old abandoned military bunker hidden along the California coast.
Built in the late 1800s as part of early coastal defense systems, these bunkers were once used to watch the horizon and protect against potential attacks. Today, they’ve been completely abandoned — left to decay and slowly taken back by nature.
From dark, empty corridors to graffiti-covered rooms, this place feels frozen in time.
Not far from here, I also explored abandoned military housing from Fort Ord — entire neighborhoods left behind after the base was shut down.
These places once had a purpose… now they’re just forgotten.
