🚨 Exploring the eerie abandoned munitions igloos at the former March Air Force Base Weapons Storage Area in Riverside, California.

These massive earth-covered concrete bunkers (often called "igloos") were part of March AFB's Cold War-era Weapons Storage Area, used to safely store bombs, missiles, and reportedly special weapons for the Strategic Air Command's B-52 bombers and other aircraft. Located west of the 215 freeway along Cactus Circle East (near the old Century Kennels area and what locals sometimes reference as the West March Upper Plateau), the site features dozens of reinforced, mounded magazines designed in a classic dispersal layout to survive potential attacks.

In this video, I walk around the perimeter and show the layout of these historic structures that once supported one of California's major Air Force bases. March Field started as Alessandro Flying Training Field in 1918, grew through WWII, and became a key SAC base during the Cold War before the 1993 BRAC realignment changed everything. Many bunkers remain, some with signs of past use (including fireworks storage in recent years), while parts of the area have seen redevelopment talks.

⚠️ Important: Much of this area is on private or former military land with ongoing redevelopment. I filmed responsibly from public-accessible spots or permitted areas β€” always respect fences, no-trespassing signs, and private property. Urban exploration should never involve breaking laws or putting yourself at risk.
