Part 1 of a 2-part exploration of RAF Woodbridge, a site that played a crucial role during World War II, was later taken over by the USAF during the Cold War, and was finally shut down in 1993, becoming MOD Woodbridge.
In this video I explore some of the older Cold War–era bunkers located around the site. Inside these bunkers there are still large amounts of left-behind materials and equipment, including pallets of water-treatment solutions, powdered supplies, storage crates, ammunition boxes, and thousands of empty cartons that once held blank rounds. Loads of used smoke grenades were also found inside the bunkers.
This exploration was filmed in cold conditions (around -4°C), with light snowfall during parts of the visit.
