We Found Abandoned Military Bunkers in a Pennsylvania Forest

Hidden deep within Pennsylvania’s State Game Lands lies the eerie remains of the Bunkers of Alvira—once part of a massive World War II munitions depot. These concrete bunkers, scattered over 3,000 acres, tell the story of a small farming village transformed into a military epicenter, only to be abandoned as the war ended. Today, the village of Alvira is gone, but the mysterious bunkers remain, slowly being reclaimed by nature.

In this video, we explore the history of the Susquehanna Ordnance Depot, the sudden displacement of 163 families, and the 149 concrete 'igloos' designed to store TNT. Learn how the urgency of war led to the creation of this top-secret facility, only for it to become obsolete by 1944. We’ll also show you what remains today: overgrown bunkers, vandalized interiors, and the haunting remnants of a forgotten past.
