In this video I’ll be exploring what was once a test site for the early space program. In 1963 a company by the name Lockheed Propulsion Co bought the land known as Potrero Ranch, where it developed boosters which help put a man on the moon. This test site is located southwest of Highland Springs Ave In the city of Beaumont CA. I find this area very intriguing because of the simple fact that it’s part of U.S. history, more specifically the Cold War era. This test site operated from 1963 - 1974. Many test were conducted in this area such as, large gun ballistics, short range attack missiles, and space craft rockets. Unfortunately many of these test contaminated the soil leaving radioactive waste, although attempts to clean the area have been conducted throughout the years, some parts of the land could remain hazardous.
