This video is about a solo winter bushcraft camping trip.
On this trip, I tested my winter camping skills once again. I carried minimal gear and, at an altitude of 2,300 meters among yew trees (you can find information about yew trees below), I built a shelter using a tarp and wood. I slept next to a long fire, with only a foam sleeping pad and a natural merino hide.
It was a lot of fun and an amazing experience. Despite the temperature dropping to -15°C, I stayed completely warm.
Cooking in such extremely cold temperatures can be challenging. I try to eat high-calorie, fatty meals to stay warm, and that’s exactly what I did on this trip.
I cooked meat on a handmade wooden grill, woven from wooden rods.
I also made dough and baked bread on a wooden plate.

Additional Information:
Are there wild animals in this area?
Yes. There are various large animals in this area, including leopards, deer, roe deer (miniature deer), brown bears, foxes, and wolves. However, they mostly avoid humans and do not pose a serious threat. Of course, I always carry a form of protection just in case.
What clothes am I wearing?
• A fleece jacket, a Quechua outer jacket, and a Solognac hat.
• Two pairs of pants, wool socks, and boots insulated to -31°C.
How can I sleep in such cold temperatures?
Fire is the main reason I stay warm. I build it to generate a lot of heat and stoke it every 2-3 hours to keep the warmth constant. This method of sleeping is very comfortable, as long as you don’t mind waking up every few hours to add wood to the fire.
About Yew Trees:
Yew trees (Taxus) are evergreen trees or shrubs that grow in temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere, particularly in Europe, Asia, and North America. Known for their hard, durable, and flexible wood, yew trees were historically used to make bows, tools, and furniture. These trees are also admired for their dense foliage and their ability to live for thousands of years.
