In this video, I document the full journey of building a hidden missile-resistant safe room in my backyard using a shipping container as the core structure.
The project begins with preparing the container’s base. I installed a wooden floor foundation, added multiple layers of insulation for extra protection, reinforced the wall and ceiling framing, and then enclosed everything with plywood panels to create a solid interior shell.
Once the structural phase was complete, I moved on to transforming the interior into a space that feels both secure and comfortable. The walls were finished with clean white panels, the ceiling was equipped with bright LED lighting, and the floor was coated with a glossy black epoxy finish. To give the room a more modern look, I also designed a feature TV wall with vertical wooden slats combined with soft ambient lighting.
In the end, the container was transformed into a hidden, underground missile-resistant room, designed not only as a protective space but also as a cozy place to relax.
Inside the room, you’ll find simple yet functional features such as:
• an L-shaped seating area
• a small coffee table
• a compact mini kitchen with wall shelves
• a small fridge for drinks
• and a display rack for padel rackets and a few trophies
The space is designed to stay completely concealed and can only be accessed through a hidden entrance, making it almost impossible to detect from the outside.
