In this full start-to-finish build, Julien Malara shows how four shipping containers are transformed into a stunning modern home with a wooden façade and a spacious 43 m² terrace. The project begins with screw-pile foundations and precise crane placement before moving into welding, cutting openings, sandblasting, and installing UPVC windows and doors.
Julien builds a complete timber skeleton around the containers, adds cellulose and wood-fibre insulation, installs EPDM roofing, plumbing, and electrical systems, and finishes everything with clean vertical cladding and protective coatings. By the end, the raw steel containers become a warm, comfortable, energy-efficient home that looks and feels nothing like a container.
