In this video, I show the process of building a hidden underground room using a shipping container placed beneath my backyard.
The project begins with preparing the main structure of the container. First, I installed a wooden floor base, then added insulation to make the space more comfortable. After that, I built the wall and ceiling framing and covered it with plywood panels to create a solid and clean interior structure.
Once the structural work was completed, the next step was improving the interior to make the room look more modern and comfortable. The walls were finished with clean white panels, the ceiling was equipped with bright LED lighting, and the floor was coated with glossy black epoxy, giving the room a sleek and polished look. On one side of the room, I also created a TV wall using vertical wooden slats combined with soft ambient lighting to add a warmer atmosphere.
After everything was finished, the container was transformed into a cozy hidden room located underground in the backyard, designed as a simple place to relax.
Inside the room there are several basic features such as: • a seating area with an L-shaped sofa • a small coffee table • a mini kitchen with wall shelves • a small fridge for drinks • and a display rack for padel rackets and a few trophies
The room is designed to stay hidden and can only be accessed through a secret entrance, so from the outside it’s difficult to notice that there is a space underneath.
